From one extreme to another…

I spent last week snowboarding in the Alps.

It’s an annual holiday that me and my dad go on – and you guessed it, we spent the entire week hurtling downhill at what felt like 100mph.

I averaged 35 miles a day and all in all, had a fantastic break.

Fresh from being surrounded by snow and ice deep in the Alps, I appear to have landed back in Spring…

As I write this, it’s 16 degrees and I’m thinking of wearing shorts when I pop out later.

For a lot of people, a holiday is a great chance to step away from work and their business for a while, have a break and get some much-needed perspective.

Don’t get me wrong, it was a break for me too, but as a videographer and photographer, there’s a little bit more to it…

You see, content production isn’t just what I do – it’s also what I love.

I’m in the incredibly fortunate position where my hobby is also my job, which means that when I’m not producing content for businesses and clients, I’m producing content for myself!

I had a great week refuelling the creative juices and trying out a few things with my content along the way.

It made me think, is having the time and space while you’re away from the day-to-day of the business the perfect opportunity to produce some content for yourself?

After all, people buy from people and the more you speak to people’s interests, the more they can identify with you.

Your hobbies and interests are great talking points to get that conversation started so that when people are ready to buy, they already have a relationship with you, even if you’ve never spoken.

Something to think about as the sun comes out and we all start thinking about this summer’s holidays…
